How the car donation process works
You donate through RideForward and choose a mission that matters
Your donation begins with a simple decision: you want your unused car, truck, van, SUV, or other vehicle to create real help for people who are blind or visually impaired. RideForward makes the process easy for Philadelphia-area donors while directing 100-percent of vehicle sale proceeds to Heritage for the Blind, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 58-2164446. You do not need to repair the vehicle or prepare it for resale. Just provide basic information about the vehicle, where it is located, and the best way to contact you.
Free towing is scheduled across Greater Philadelphia
After your donation is submitted, free pickup is arranged at a time that works for you. Towing is available throughout Greater Philadelphia, including Center City, West Philadelphia, South Philly, the Northeast, Northwest neighborhoods, and suburbs in Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, and Chester counties. If your car is in a driveway, garage, apartment lot, business parking area, or at a repair shop, the pickup team will coordinate the details with you. There is no towing charge to you, and you can avoid the hassle of selling, advertising, or negotiating with buyers.
The vehicle is sold and proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind
Once picked up, your vehicle is processed for sale through the appropriate resale channel. The amount generated depends on the vehicle’s condition, market demand, and final sale price, so RideForward does not promise or invent an impact amount. What matters is that 100-percent of the vehicle sale proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind. Those proceeds help fund services designed to support blind and visually impaired Americans with information, navigation, and access to resources that can improve daily life and financial stability.
Proceeds support benefit guidance and practical assistance
Heritage for the Blind uses vehicle donation proceeds to help connect people who are blind or visually impaired with programs and services they may qualify for. This includes assistance navigating government benefits such as SSI, SSDI, LIHEAP, Section 8, Medicare Extra Help, Medicaid, and other support programs. For donors, that means your car can help fund the kind of guidance that reduces confusion and helps people find available assistance. You receive the tax documentation you need
Because Heritage for the Blind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 58-2164446, your donation may be tax deductible if you itemize deductions on your federal tax return. For vehicles that sell for more than $500, the tax deduction is generally based on the gross vehicle sale price, and IRS Form 1098-C is provided for your records. You should keep your donation paperwork and consult a tax professional for personal tax advice. RideForward keeps the process straightforward so you can give with confidence.
